# Step 1: Download IAM role IaC template (Web UI)

Step 1: download the IAM role IaC template for the Snyk AWS integration in the Web UI

Before you can create a Cloud Environment, you must download an Infrastructure as Code (IaC) template declaring a read-only **Identity and Access Management** (IAM) role that Snyk can assume to scan the configuration of resources in your Amazon Web Services (AWS) account.

Use this IaC template to provision the role in [Step 2: Create the Snyk IAM role](/scan-fix-and-prevent/scan-with-snyk/snyk-iac/cloud-platform-integrations/aws-integration/aws-integration-web-ui/step-2-create-the-snyk-iam-role.md).

You can choose the template format, either [Terraform HCL](https://www.terraform.io/language/syntax/configuration) or [AWS CloudFormation](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSCloudFormation/latest/UserGuide/Welcome.html). The IAM permissions are identical in both, so pick the format you are most comfortable working with.

The steps follow to **download the IaC template**.

1. In the [Snyk Web UI](https://app.snyk.io), navigate to **Integrations** > **Cloud platforms**.
2. Select **AWS**.
3. In the **Add AWS Environment** modal, select the **Terraform** button to download a `snyk-permissions-aws.tf` file or **CloudFormation** to download a `snyk-permissions-aws.yml` file:

You can now proceed to [Step 2: Create the Snyk IAM role (Web UI)](/scan-fix-and-prevent/scan-with-snyk/snyk-iac/cloud-platform-integrations/aws-integration/aws-integration-web-ui/step-2-create-the-snyk-iam-role.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.snyk.io/scan-fix-and-prevent/scan-with-snyk/snyk-iac/cloud-platform-integrations/aws-integration/aws-integration-web-ui/step-1-download-iam-role-iac-template-web-ui.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
