# Identity Provider (IdP) migration

How to migrate Snyk SSO from a legacy identity provider to a new one by submitting new IdP metadata

When migrating from a legacy IdP to a new IdP, you must submit new IdP metadata information to Snyk.

To migrate identity providers:

1. Download the correct Worksheet from the [SSO resources](/platform-administration/user-management/single-sign-on-sso-for-authentication-to-snyk/set-up-snyk-single-sign-on-sso.md#resources).
2. Fill out Worksheet with the IdP metadata information.
3. Submit the Worksheet; [contact Snyk Support](https://support.snyk.io) to raise a Support ticket.

To prevent new users from being created within Snyk, you must maintain your SAML protocol and use both the same Entity ID and ACS URL. If you are changing SAML protocols, [contact Snyk Support](https://support.snyk.io).

After you have done this, the Support team will contact you and confirm the updated metadata has granted access through the new IdP.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.snyk.io/platform-administration/user-management/single-sign-on-sso-for-authentication-to-snyk/identity-provider-idp-migration.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
